About Sumit Antil

Sumit Antil is the para javelin trailblazer of India. In 2015, when he was 17, his motorbike was hit by a speeding truck. As a result, his left leg was amputated. He was introduced to para-athletics by another para-athlete, Rajkumar, while he was pursuing his B.Com. He began competing at javelin on the National circuit and GoSports inducted him into the Para Champions Programme in 2019. Same year, at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Italy, he broke the world record in the F64 category. Since then he is a six-time world record holder with the para-javelin world record of 73.29 meters at the Asian Para Games 2022. He also won gold medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
